POSITION: FINANCIAL CONTROLLER

FINANCIAL AND ADMINISTRATION STAFF

1. MISSION OF THE POSITION


To act as a consultant and to give support to the General Manager, regarding the procedures and financial policies of Sol Meliá, to plan and make strategic decisions about administration to achieve the best financial results from the Hotel and to obtain the goals of the company, while taking care of the goods and interests of it. Finally to plan, to manage and to evaluate the financial operations and to promote maximum efficiency and profitability.

2. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES


  1. Responsibility for the Company’s Finance

  1. Prepare the Statutory Accounts for the Hotel

  1. Prepare the annual budget for the Hotel, review the development of the departments’ budget and to take appropriate action in order to avoid negative budgetary deviations.  

  1. In charge of Society Taxation.

  1. In charge of Bank relationships (maintain the Bank Mandates, credit cards, bank balance, etc)

  1. Prepare the Cash Flow Reports for the Head Office.

  1. Prepare the weekly Forecast with the General Manager.

  1. Establish and review the internal Procedures to improve controls.

  1. Must approve all the purchase orders before passing the General Manager.

  1. In charge of annual appraisals.

  1. Prepare all the Finance reporting that could be required by GM, HO, Auditors, etc.

  1. To have the bank signature and authorise all the payments.

  1. In charge of insurance relations.

  1. Other responsibilities assigned by the General Manager.

3. PROFILE

EDUCATION AND TRAINING:
University Degree in Economy
Upgrade or Master would be an advantage
LANGUAGES:
Fluent English. Second language desirable (better if it’s the local language where the hotel is based).
SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE:
Finances
Budgetary Control
Statutory Accounts
  Society Taxation
WORK EXPERIENCE IN OTHER COMPANIES (IN CASE OF EXTERNAL SELECTION):
5 years in a similar position in large hotels or international companies.
WORK EXPERIENCE IN MHI (IN  CASE OF INTERNAL PROMOTION):
3 / 4 years in the company in a similar position in large hotels.
